Growing Roots is a ministry of Capital Christian Fellowship and the CCF Reconciliation Center. Growing Roots runs from March 2018 through December 2018, with the option to re-enroll for a second season. Growing Roots is a community garden focused initiative creating space for reconciliation with the earth, with each other, and with God our creator. This initiative aligns with goals of economic, environmental, and gender justice. As an organization, we will provide space to explore God’s creation with a community garden for families and individuals as a form of financial and emotional therapy; we will address immediate challenges to those immigrating to the area who need mental health awareness education and support; we will connect families to supportive services, financial counseling, and various family/community oriented enrichment opportunities.
Families and individuals will enroll in Growing Roots as Partner Gardeners who attend class once a week and work the garden an additional day a week. Participants will receive hands on learning about gardening, with an objective of gaining appreciation and understanding for the earth and the resources provided by God our creator, as well as our role in caring for it. Many services and opportunities will be provided for those enrolled in Growing Roots.
